Internet dating appears to be here to stay and may well be the wave of the future Men and women are busy with jobs and earning a living, with children and school and just life in general. The internet provides a quicker means for finding and ultimately getting to know people -- people you might not otherwise meet. However, as anyone knows who has already entered the internet dating scene, there are good and bad factors to this type of dating. While internet dating seems to be the accepted norm these days, and there are many success stories of couples who have met via the internet, there are just as many bad and ugly stories that can be told.
This publication has been prepared as a result of extensive research, real life stories and personal experience of the author.
As in real life, we must use our judgment and life experience to separate the good from the bad. Our goal is to help your internet dating experience be a safe and happy one.
Many times people who have had a bad experience with internet dating are hesitant or flatly refuse to share their stories due to embarrassment or shame. We often think we're too smart to fall for someone's fake line or story, but it is very easy to be drawn into someone's life and begin to develop a sense of caring for that person via email or chat. The words coming across your screen can sometimes play right into a lonely heart.
A down side to internet dating is that it's used at times by married persons for the sole purpose of cheating on their spouse or significant other. It's extremely easy to create a personality in cyberspace. Internet dating can be fun and rewarding, but it should be approached seriously so that broken hearts can be avoided. Also, you must be aware of the danger of meeting con artists or other unsavory individuals who are merely out to scam the unsuspecting.
So be smart, stay safe, listen to that gut feeling and above all watch for the inconsistencies that just don't feel right. You are in charge of your life, do not hand control over to anyone else, especially someone you haven't met except through the click of a mouse.
